Since SDCC, the X-Men: Apocalypse marketing train is getting into gear for it’s 2016 release. We’ve already seen Apocalypse with Psylocke & Magneto, now we get proper looks at the young mutants who will be out to save mutant & human kind and Bryan Singer has given details on how they differ from the first iterations of the characters.
While we are already some way familiar with Storm, Jean Grey, Cyclops & Nightcrawler, with Jubilee the only new addition to the team as we know it at the moment, Bryan Singer has stated that they will be very different from how we saw them in X-Men 1, 2, & 3:
“These are very different characters than they were in the films X-Men 1, 2, and 3. They are at times in their lives when they are at the most opposite of what they would become. That’s a thrill to me, to take characters I crafted so many years ago and flip them completely on their side and show how they evolved and began. In ‘X-Men: First Class,’ which I produced and wrote the story for, we hark back to the original colors of the original costumes from the 1963 comics. I will say that in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse,’ there is a chance ,without giving anything away, that you may get closer to seeing what… you are interested in seeing. I know it’s something that I’ve been interested in, I just always wanted to do it the right way.”
Does this mean we’ll get to see the classic blue and yellow suits we all know and love from the comics and animated series? We certainly hope so. As realistic & down to earth as the black get ups we’ve seen mostly through out the franchise were, it would be awesome to see the X-Men in the costumes we have associated them with throughout their history.
We’ll have to wait until the release of X-Men: Apocalypse on the 27th of May 2016 to find out however, but for now, feast your eyes on close-ups of the young mutants in high-resolution glory!
