It is that time of year again in Dublin, it’s Comic Con time. This is our first time at Comic Con and boy are we excited. It’s as close to the level of excitement one had as a kid on Christmas morning as you can get.
This years Comic Con takes place in the Convention Centre in Dublin City centre. We here at Nerd Lowdown will be attending, and we can’t wait. The convention is gonna be a nerds heaven, famous guests, fellow nerds in cosplay, video game area, props to take photos with, exclusive collectibles and we are hoping to me some of our fans. Before I give a recap of some of the big guests that will be appearing at Comic Con, I would like to point out something.
We here at Nerd Lowdown appreciate all the support you fans and followers have shown us since we started the site and Facebook page. To say thank you, we had t-shirts made, a picture of which can be seen below. We each will be wearing one so that any fans will spot us, and we really hope to meet as many as we can at Comic Con. In addition to our t-shirts that make us stand out, we have had 5 extras made, and the first 5 people to find us and show us they like the page will receive a t-shirt. We want to give back to you guys.
Now to recap some of the main guests and other aspects of Comic Con 2015.
We have the man himself, Michael Rooker who many people know as Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy and Merle Dixon from the Walking Dead. We are so excited to meet Michael, we are huge fans of GotG and TWD. It will of course hopefully be a great experience meeting Michael, and hopefully we’ll get to ask him a question or two at the Q&A panel.
Billy West will also be in attendance, for those who are asking who Billy West is, think of the name Phillip J. Fry, or Professor Farnsworth and then you might get an idea as to who he is. He is an extremely talented voice actor, who has provided the voice for many of Futurama’s beloved character.
Stephen Cardenas is also there, anyone who watched the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie and TV Show from the 1990’s will know him as Rocky Dos Santos, the Red Ranger, he will be appearing, and he will also have his Red Ranger Costume with him. For anyone that has pre booked a photo with him, the suit being there will make it extra special.
Anyone looking for some good collectibles, Forbidden Planet Dublin will be there and they have confirmed on their Twitter that they have put in an order for some of the San Diego Comic Con exclusive Pop Vinyl’s, so anyone who is dying to get their hands on any of them as they had some pretty awesome exclusives this year (such as the unmasked Jason Voorhees, Fire Head Anger, Orange Lil Gruesome, Gold Bender, Blackout Ant Man and many more) the guys over at Forbidden Planet will have some of them for you to add to your collections, as well 2 graphic novels for €20, we can’t wait to get our hands on some of them.
The Emerald Garrison will also be in attendance to promote the Invasion Dublin V show in October 17th/18th in the National Show Centre. For those unfamiliar with the Emerald Garrison they were founded in 2007, are a non profit organisation, and are a Star Wars costuming club that brings together enthusiasts from all over the world. They are based in both Northern and the Republic of Ireland, their dedication to costuming has brought them to some of the largest events throughout the UK and Ireland, including Invasion Belfast, Invasion Dublin, Invasion Cork, Toys 4 Big Boys and the Download music festival (some of us have been to Download Festival, and the Garrison fit right in with the atmosphere of the festival) They aim to enjoy what they do and help raise awareness for all of the charities they work for and help raise money/awareness for. We look forward to meeting the guys from the Garrison, and will have plenty of photos to share from it.
This is just a brief recap of some of the guests and aspects of comic con, there is a lot more that we could write about, but we are just to excited, we are also getting things ready for when we meet any of our fans in attendance. We will have a full recap of the Saturday up over the weekend, keep an eye out, and we hope to see you there.
