NBC Set To Develop DC Universe Office Sitcom

So, earlier today we posted a funny Tumblr image on our Facebook page joking about a superhero movie set in an insurance company that deals with the fallout of superhero battles. Well, it’s happening. Sort of.

NBC have landed the rights to develop Powerless. The show is set to be a 30-minute office based sitcom set within an insurance company in the DC Universe.  Essentially, what we will see is something similar to The Office where normal, or powerless everyday people have to deal with the fallout of metahuman battles and outright destruction involving some of our favourite DC heroes.

Presumably, Batman, Superman and the rest of the Justice League are off limits, but hopefully we see a situation where NBC will have permission to use events from the world of Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, otherwise we’ll be fresh out of heroes. Given that the CW managed to get Constantine into Arrow, maybe this will be part of the deal.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is an original concept however. Despite how fantastic an idea it is for DC & NBC to partner up and bring such an inventive situation comedy to our screens, they weren’t the first with the idea. The concept will be very familiar to fans of Marvel comics, Damage Control. Damage Control are a company within the Marvel Universe that specialise in the clean up and repair of cities and buildings after the likes of Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America win the battle and clear off back to the Avengers Tower!

Powerless is in the very early stages of development but stay tuned for all the latest on the superhero comedy series on Nerd Lowdown!
