Kevin Smith Tips UFC Star Ronda Rousey For Captain Marvel!

Kevin Smith, Director of Mallrats Clerks, has come out and thrown his weight behind UFC starlet “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey taking on the role of Captain Marvel in Marvel’s female lead solo flick!

The MMA Superstar who recently finished off Brazilian Beth Correira in 34 seconds even put her own name in to the Carol Danvers hat during her Reddit AMA where she expressed interest in playing Ms. Marvel, or Captain Marvel as the character in particular is now known. Speaking to TMZ, Smith had this to say about Rousey taking on the mantle of the cosmic hero:

“See her in that picture? Come on! You don’t even need to think at this point. There’s an image; we can see it. She looks amazing. Lord knows she’s one of the only people who would play a superhero that could actually beat the sh*t out of somebody. I would like to see it happen. She seems like she’s got a good head on her shoulders. She followed her dream and, holy sh*t, she’s an ass-kicker. If that doesn’t sound like a superhero, I don’t know what is.”

If anyone has the authority to speak comic books & superheroes it’s certainly Kevin Smith, who has previously penned his own comics while working on and off for DC and Marvel over the years. She has also recently appeared in Fast & Furious 7 and the Entourage movie so film making is certainly something she may see in her future past the UFC. Although, these have been small roles so it’s still uncertain whether she would have the acting chops to pull off a lead role in a massive block buster but don’t tell her we said that *cowers in fear*.

&MaxW=640&imageVersion=default&AR-150329576The images Smith referred to were fan art shared by Ronda Rousey herself and we really can’t argue that she’s a dead ringer for Carol Danvers. Considering that Marvel tend to place a big emphasis on how similar their actors look to their comic book counterparts, one could certainly imagine Rousey as having that box ticked already! See below for yourself!

Who knows, if Ronda Rousey gets the Captain Marvel gig, we could see Ireland’s very own UFC superstar Conor McGregor replace Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine! He wouldn’t even need Adamantium to obliterate Magneto!

Captain Marvel is slated for release in November 2018.

  1. I would LOVE to see this. These Marvel movies have such an effect on kids that to actually have a person who deserves to play the role would be fantastic!
