Margot Robbie says Jared Leto is pretty good as the Joker

Everybody by now has seen the trailer for the Suicide Squad, it looks amazing. It’s a unique concept for a movie, a bunch of villains being hired by the government to do missions in return for a reduced sentence. It is fair say to say that people are hyped for it.

In a recent interview,  Margot Robbie, who is playing bubblegum blowing, baseball bat wielding maniac Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, was quick to give praise to her co-star Jared Leto. She says his performance as The Joker is “pretty impressive” and “what he’s doing with the character is so cool.”
Leto’s appearance for The Joker is dramatically different than the character’s previous on-screen iterations, it is a new look for the Joker in a way, as it is a mashup up of previous renders of the character. Robbie grew accustomed to the Oscar-winner’s appearance and was more frightened Leto out of makeup on the set.

“At first it was kind of confronting (to be up close) but now I’m so used to it, I think if I ever saw him out of makeup now I would be really confused. Actually, I saw him out of makeup once and I was actually petrified of him. I was too scared to go up and didn’t know who that person was, and when he got back into his makeup I was far more comfortable.”

As for Harley Quinn, Robbie describes her as “absolutely nuts… she’s either going to kill you or laugh and give you a hug.”

Directed and written by David Ayer (Fury) and features an all-star cast: Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Jay Hernandez, and Karen Fukahara.

Suicide Squad is set to be released on August 5th 2016.
