Final Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Swoops In!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a movie that does not need any more marketing, hype or advertising to become a commercial success. But that isn’t stopping JJ Abrams & Co. from stunning us once again with a beautiful trailer!

While it doesn’t give very much away, it provides plenty of fan service in harking back to the Original Trilogy including a first look at an older Princess Leia and what seems to be a reunion with Han Solo! As for the general plot, it confirms some rumoured plot points such as Finn’s defection from the Storm Troopers because he has “nothing to fight for” and also villain Kylo Ren’s deep-seated obsession with Darth Vader. So while Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren character may not be a traditional Sith as we know them, his intention is to “finish what you [Darth Vader] started”. Perhaps there is more than an obsession here and even a familial relationship. It is always possible that Ren is the grandson or grandnephew of one Anakin Skywalker… Which brings us to.

Perhaps this is because his role is not quite as large as expected, playing the Yoda-esque mentoring role to Finn and/or Rey. Or, perhaps Disney are trying to keep his role a firm secret due to a massive plot twist none of us should expect. A quick death maybe, or even a turn to the dark side in between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Given how important the character was in the Original Trilogy, it would be hard for fans to see Disney give Luke a wide berth and not give him much screen time, so perhaps his absence does hint at something major to come in December once the film is released.

Overall, while this trailer was simply a final TV spot showed during a football game which means it was to be the general sell for those non-dedicated Star Wars fans, it sure was an absolute treat and sent shivers down the spine of even the coldest Empire general.

December 17th cannot come quickly enough.
