To anyone that calls themselves a tv show buff or enthusiast, chances are you have watched Prison Break at some point. The show which originally ran from August 2005 – May 2009, followed the lives of two brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows and several other key characters. The show ran for 4 seasons, the first season seen Michael break Lincoln out of Prison, the second season seen the two try escape to Panama, the third seen Michael break a man named James Whistler out of a Panama prison, and the fourth seen the two brothers bring down the company.

For anyone that hasn’t watched the show, a MAJOR SPOILER follows

you have been warned.

Dont say we didn’t warn you!

At the end of the fourth season however Michael dies, he sacrifices himself in order to save his wife, Sarah. The ending to the fourth series left so many answers, and FOX are going to answer them questions.

FOX have ordered a limited series of 10-12 episodes which will air next year, and it will see Dominic Purcell return as Lincoln Burrows, Wentworth Miller return as Michael Scofield along with several of the other key cast members.

If Michael supposedly died at the end of the fourth series why have him come back? Unless that is of course, he is not dead, maybe he faked his own death to protect his family. Although anyone that watches the show knows that the chasing and hiding was over, so there would be no need for him to fake his own death.

Maybe there were things not included in the final season, like a threat that only Michael knew about, maybe that is why he faked his own death. Then again, his character could only be appearing in flashbacks. Bringing back Miller has only caused more speculation as to what happened in the final episode and maybe that is what FOX want.

FOX co-chairman and CEO Dana Walden has stated of the show: “I would describe it as a bit of a sequel. It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show.” He also said that they will not ignore the fact the Scofield perished, rather all episodes will be canon and they will provide a logical explanation as to how he is alive.

Movie News Guide reports that the writers of the show could decide that the electrocution was not enough to kill Michael but instead put him in a coma. This would allow him to wake up during the Season 5 premiere. This is a very plausible way of explaining his return, his body could have been taken by someone else, and none of this family or friends know he is in a coma.

That is all just speculation at the moment as the only people that know how Michael is still alive are the writers. While no official air date has been released, the series is set to drop before the end of 2016, we here at Nerd Lowdown cannot wait to see how it plays out.

Are you excited for this mini series? How is Michael still alive? let us know.
