And The Razzie Nominations Are In…

The Razzies, a slightly sarcastic answer to The Oscars, are a set of film awards which seek to acknowledge the most awful films of the year for their awfulness. While there were MANY great films in 2015, there were also stinkers. Absolute stinkers.

The nominations for the 2016 Awards are in and the outlook is not good…

RAZZIE REDEEMER AWARD

Elizabeth Banks (RAZZIE “Winner” for MOVIE 47, Multiple Hit Movies This Year)
M. Night Shyamalan (Perennial RAZZIE nominee & “winner,” director of The Visit)
Will Smith (For following up After Earth with Concussion)
Sylvester Stallone (All-Time RAZZIE Champ, award contender for Creed)

When you look through the nominations, there is very little surprise here at all. We even attempted to do a “Nerd Lowdown Pick” for each category and we literally could not separate the candidates at all. On a sidenote, we will always feel strongly that there is a special place in movie hell reserved for 50 Shades of Grey (shudders).

The one nomination we do feel is quite harsh, is Josh Trank for Fantastic Four. The Not-So-Fantastic Four is a front runner in each category it got a nod for, but we’re unsure if it would even qualify as Trank’s movie. If reports of the studios meddling are true, then if Trank was really the man in charge then maybe we would have gotten a very different movie. Heck, the DVD/Blu-Ray didn’t even have a director’s commentary! Or ANY commentary/special features for that matter…

The Razzies will be handed out the night before the Academy’s big night but we’re not entirely sure that the winners will be delighted to accept them.
