World War 2 First person shooters is what took the FPS genre to what it is today. With games like Call Of Duty & Medal Of Honour before all the perks and running along walls it was skill that made the difference in a fire fight.
We have been taken from the trenches of World War 1 to the futuristic space warfare, drones, augmentations the list is endless. We have seen the future been there done that wore the T-shirt. So now it is time to go back to re-visit where some of the most iconic battles took place. Not too long ago I wrote a piece on why it was time for WWII shooters to make a comeback and now the time is nigh (I like to think I had something got to do with it).
Battalion 1944 is a new WWII multiplayer shooter coming from Bulkhead Interactive that aims to capture the“core of classic multiplayer shooters ” using the “most advanced industry technology.”
You can check out the announcement trailer below, All footage shown is in pre-alpha state.
It has been long over due for World War 2 shooters to make a comeback and what Bulkhead Interactive are doing it is nothing but amazing. With so many WWII Multiplayer games on PC it is nice for console gamers to get a taste of what it is like.
Running on Unreal engine 4 Battalion allows players to experience the battles such as Bastogne and Carentan. We will get to revisit the weapons from 1940’s era such as the M1 Grand, the Kar98 and the mighty Thompson.
“In short, Battalion 1944 is an infantry based FPS with an emphasis on raw skill” Bulkhead exclaimed “No grinding, no exosuits; just you and your skill as a player.”
Battalion 1944 will have Battlerank. Battlerank is a global competition syste. You have the option to join a battalion and compete in a season to earn cosmetic rewards for your character, weapons and accessories.
As stated in the video, Bulkhead Interactive will be using dedicated servers for Battalion and employ anti-cheat in an attempt to create a fair and equal playing experience for all.
Bulkhead is raising money for Battalion 1944 on Kickstarter, asking for 100,000 GBP to get the project going. Funding started on February 2nd and will end on March 3rd. You can guarantee yourself a copy of the game which is expected to launch in May 2017 by pledging a minimum of 13 GBP. With just under 50,000 GBP Bulkhead interactive is well on their way to the goal they have set you can make a donation here. With 28 days left to go we are very sure they will reach their goal and produce a game alot of gamers are screaming for. The last game that was based on the WW2 era was Call Of Duty World At War which was released in 2008.
Battalion 1944 will come to PS4 XB1 and PC.
