By now you all have seen the epic Merc fight his way onto the big screen, but if you haven’t what have you been doing all week? Anyway, what you don’t know is that you may have already seen the first and final cut!
Reports have suggested that an oh so common Director’s Cut in many films may not see the light of day for Mr. Pool – we were sure that an even heavier cut was out there, waiting for the BluRay/DVD release but as of today, it seems highly unlikely!
Tim Miller, addressed the question last week during a Q&A at Collider’s IMAX preview screening:
“I don’t wanna be all Joss Whedon on you, but no there’s not [a director’s cut]… There are some deleted scenes that have some extra stuff, but I’m pretty happy with this cut. I like it.”
He also added a chat with producer Simon Kinberg:
“There’s some stuff on the DVD extras, I had a little more workshop fight in there that I liked—that’s the beat that we were talking about, [Simon’s] like, ‘Tim it’s violent enough, please’ and I’m like, ‘Oh no but man when he stomps on his face it’s awesome,’ and Simon’s like, ‘No we’ve got enough.’ (laughs)”
Although this is extremely sad news to us, we can agree that the Marvel film is hella enough violent as it is, but it would have been cool to see them go even further in the cut-throat edition (we came up with the name!).
