Kingsman: The Secret Service was one of the most surprising movies to come out of 2015, released on January 29th it took the world by storm. Based on the comic book series written by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons about a secret spy service in the England made $414.4 million worldwide from a budget of $81 million. The films strong humour, action scenes, and cast which included Samuel L Jackson, Michael Caine, Colin Firth and Taron Egerton made it an instant hit with viewers, so it was no surprise that a sequel was announced.
Fox announced that the sequel is due to be released on June 16th 2017, and per a recent issue of Empire Magazine (via Comic Book) director Matthew Vaughan has given us plenty of juicy details to work with. The sequel is due to be titled Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and it will see Julianne Moore as the films main antagonist, not only that but Vaughan stated that Halle Berry has been cast in some major role which is yet to be confirmed. The film was also shift the attention off the Kingsman in this film and focus more an organisation called Statesman, which is the US equivalent to the Kingsman. We also got a look at an image of concept art from the film which seems to be a glimpse at the Statesman Headquarters, or at least the store front which will disguise the Headquarters.
This is not the only news we bring you in regards to the film though, there is a bit more, we like to reward you guys. The following paragraph contain SPOILERS so if you have not seen the first Kingsman movie we strongly suggest you do not continue.
REMEMBER SPOILER ALERT!
For those who have seen the first film, know that Colin Firth’s character Harry Hart was shot point blank in the face by Richmond Valentine (played by Samuel L Jackson) and presumably killed him (but we all know that in films based on comic books, no one really stays dead, it spys never stay dead either). Recently we got a huge hint from Taron Egerton who played Eggsy (the main protagonist of the first film) that we may see Firth’s character return in the sequel despite his supposed demise. He posted the following on his twitter account.
This image, which has a quote from Mark Twain underneath Harrys glasses which have one lens missing (from where he was shot) hugely hints at the idea that we may see him return. Being a huge fan of the first film and the character I’d love to see him return, and I am sure plenty of other fans would. The question of how to bring him back though is a question which if the reports of his return are true, will have to wait until the film is released.
Yes we do have more news for you that has been given away in the above image. Channing Tatum (yes Magic Mike himself) has joined the cast of the next Kingsman movie. The cast already boasts Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Mark Strong, Taron Egerton, Tatum adds to the star studded cast. His role has yet to be confirmed, but he confirmed his involved on his twitter account, in the same manner the Taron Egerton hinted at a Colin Firth return. Considering the film will shift to Statesmen, he could very well be playing one of the Statesmen.
That is all the news we have on Kingsman: The Golden Circle we have at the moment, but you know us guys, as soon as we have more news, you guys will know.
Who is excited for the sequel? We certainly are.
