Marvel’s Inhumans Pulled From Release Schedule!

Marvel’s Inhumans was one of their more ambitious projects slated for a Phase 4 release but rumours surrounding the future of the film have been around for quite some time.

Marvel have now updated their release schedule and it looks as if Inhumans is off the table, for now at least. It really comes as no surprise that Inhumans is being postponed and there are many varying factors that have caused this. Marvel’s plans for the MCU itself changed drastically once Spider-Man was brought into the fold. Both Spider-Man: Homecoming & Ant-Man and the Wasp being added to the slate meant that there had to be a bit of a shuffle of the deck anyway. Perhaps with everything considered going forward, Inhumans does not yet fit the vision that Marvel have for the MCU.

Another reason that Inhumans could be off the table is due to the fact that they have been introduced into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D this season and quite successfully too. This may make it more difficult for Marvel to create a movie version that stands alone from this without completely writing off Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D itself. They would need to strike a healthy balance of using pre-existing elements of the Inhumans origins & roots but also not make it a spin-off of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, they need to make it a stand alone movie in its own right as they have done with every other MCU movie.

The biggest disappointment in this is that we most certainly won’t be seeing Vin Diesel play two roles in the MCU. Along with providing the voice of Groot, Diesel has persistently courted the role of Black Bolt. Black Bolt is the king of the Inhumans and one who does not speak due to the fact his voice is powerful enough to level an entire city, his communication mostly comes in the form of telepaths translating his thoughts to others. So had things worked out, Vin Diesel would provide his voice for Groot and his body for Black Bolt and that would have been the weirdest and most awesome thing ever!
