Tim Burton Dishes Out On Beetlejuice 2!

Beetlejuice is one of those great movies that people will forever cherish. Directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin and Winona Rider has an almost cult move status amongst fans, and it is a film that fans have longed to see a sequel too. For years it has been pretty back and forth about will it happen, won’t it happen? It’s on, it’s off, it’s on. No one has a definite answers as to if it is happening or not, and nothing has been announced or released in regards to a sequel.

Tim Burton, the man behind Beetlejuice recently spoke with Collider and gave an update as to what exactly is happening with a sequel.

“The fact of it is I have talked to Michael [Keaton] and I have talked to Winona [Rider]; I’ve talked to a few people. It’s something that I really would like to do in the right circumstances, but it’s one of those films where it has to be right. It’s not a kind of a movie that cries out [for a sequel], it’s not the Beetlejuice trilogy. So it’s something that if the elements are right, because I do love the character and Michael’s amazing as that character, so yeah, we’ll see. But there’s nothing concrete yet.”

There we have it Tim Burton wants to make a sequel, based on rumblings that have come out over the past year, Michael Keaton and Winona Rider would be up for a sequel. As Burton noted, it has to be right. Be that the timing of when they do, the script, the cast, the story, everything has to align for it to happen. To be honest, we agree with Burton, giving how we here at Nerd Lowdown love the film and how much fans worldwide love it, everything would have to perfect for it to be made. The first film is that good we wouldn’t want it followed up by a poor sequel.

Then again, maybe Burton knows something we don’t, maybe there is already work being started, or maybe the film isn’t as far along as recent reports have suggested. Until anything is officially confirmed all we can do is hope.

Maybe of we say his name three times they’ll announce a sequel.

Beetlejuice!… Beetlejuice!… Beetlejuice….
