Thor Ragnarok Cast And Concept Art Revealed

Captain America Civil War has kicked start Phase 3 and the path towards Avengers Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2. There are plenty of stops along the way, one of them being Thor: Ragnarok our 3rd trip to Asgard, and a movie that is sure to shape the future of Asgard and the MCU.

This week we have been provided with some big news in regards to Thor’s next outing, which will see him go up against the Asgardian apocalypse and one of his biggest enemies Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death. The first piece of news we got this week is concept art revealing a first look at Hela which you can check out below courtesy of Marvel.

The concept art which shows the back of Hela, facing what looks to be her army which will help her destroy Asgard we are going to assume, and it is very similar to the costume that she wears in the comics. Marvel look to be keeping the costume as close to the comics as possible to honor what the fans know, and given the grander of Asgard and the Asgardians it would be a costume that would be worn by someone of Hela’s status.

The other big news that we received this week, is the cast being announced. Boy is it some cast, Marvel have added some series cast members to the film which already has Mark Ruffalo returning as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Tom Hiddleston return as Loki, Anthony Hopkins return as Odin and Idris Elba return as Heimdall. Check out the cast below again curtesy of Marvel.

“Two-time Oscar®-winner Cate Blanchett (“Blue Jasmine,” “Carol, “Cinderella”) joins Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok” as the mysterious and powerful new villain Hela, along with Jeff Goldblum (the upcoming “Independence Day: Resurgence,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Jurassic Park”) who joins the cast as the eccentric Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson (“Creed,” “Selma”) who will bring the classic hero Valkyrie to life on the big screen, and Karl Urban (“Star Trek” trilogy, “The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King”) who will add his might to the fray as Skurge.”

When asked about the reason behind the strong cast, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had the following to say:

“The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet. The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible.”

The newest additions to the cast bring about a few surprises such as the inclusion of Goldblum, and Karl Urban’s characters, but it confirms a rumor that has been making the rounds for months, and that is the inclusion of Valkyrie in the film. Given how stellar this cast is for the film, Marvel really are going all out for Thor: Ragnarok, and a movie that is sure to bring about death and change within the MCU.

We just hope it isn’t Loki (for real this time).

Thor Ragnarok opens on November 3rd 2017.
