Tom Cavanagh Confirmed For The Flash Season 3.

The season 2 finale of The Flash left many fans asking questions about the shows direction going forward and which characters would be appearing in season 3. We bring good news today in regards to Tom Cavanagh who has been a season regular since the show started in 2014.

Portraying Harrison Wells in Season 1, who turned out to be Eobarde Thawne aka The Reverse Flash disguised as Harrison Wells. Having been erased from the timeline at the end of season 1, Tom Cavanagh returned on season 2 as the Earth-2 version of Harrison Wells, this time playing a good guy rather than a villain in disguise.

We can confirm for you today, that Harrison Wells isn’t quite done making appearances in The Flash  universe as Tom Cavanagh has been confirmed as a season regular for season 3.  According to Entertainment Weekly‘s sources, Tom Cavanagh will not be dropping out of the show despite the happy ending of sorts himself and Jesse got at the end of season 2.

“Details on next season are being kept tightly under wraps, but I can tell you that Tom Cavanagh will be back as a series regular for season 3. Consider this: If the show does indeed move forward with Flashpoint, then the Reverse-Flash never killed Earth-1 Harrison Wells and his wife, meaning we could see the original Wells next season. Maybe. Hopefully”.

With Wells and Jesse returning to Earth-2 at the end of season 2, we could be seeing much more of Earth-2 in season 3 of The Flash, given that they both have brilliant minds and a good understanding of Meta-Humans, we could see them both play a huge part in helping fix the timeline that Barry has gone and screwed up. While DC are keeping details on season 3 tight lipped, but we know that it has been messed up big time with Barry travelling back in time and saving his mother from Reverse Flash so we know we will get some form of the Flashpoint story line.

While there is no official premiere date, The Flash  season 3 hits the CW network this Fall (or Autumn for those of us on the European side of the Atlantic) and we for one are glad to have Tom Cavanagh returning as a regular.
