The Jungle Book Live Action Film is Heading to Blu Ray and Digital HD this August!

People were taken by surprise as to how good Disney’s live action version of The Jungle Book was. Directed by Iron Man director John Favreau and featuring a star studded cast, the film grossed over $935 million worldwide at global box offices. Disney have released information as to when the film will be released on Blu Ray and Digital HD as well as the bonus features and the cover art.

The Jungle Book is a live action version of the animated classic based on Rudyard Kipling’s works of the same name,  it follows the story of a man cub named Mogli, raised by Indian Wolves Raksha and  Akela ever since he was abandoned as a baby and brought to them by the black panther Bagheera. When the fearsome scarred Bengal tiger Shere Khan returns and threatens his life since man isn’t allowed in the jungle, Mowgli leaves his jungle home. Aided by Bagheera and Baloo the bear, he sets out on a journey to the man village all while avoiding the man-hunting Shere Khan. Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures such as a python named Kaa and the Jungle VIP King Louie the Orangutan who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret of mans great fire.

It’s all star cast featured The all-star cast includes Bill Murray as the voice of Baloo, Sir Ben Kingsley as Bagheera and Lupita Nyong’o as the voice of mother wolf Raksha. Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, Giancarlo Esposito as alpha-male wolf Akela, Idris Elba  roars as the voice of Shere Khan, and Christopher Walken as  King Louie.

-King Louie’s Temple: Layer by Layer – So, exactly how do you create a musical number featuring one man-cub, a massive, legendary ape and an army of wild and wily monkeys in the Seeonee jungle? Viewers are granted rare and unique access to the development of the “I Wan’na Be Like You” sequence in which King Louie attempts to coerce Mowgli into giving up Man’s deadly “red flower” (fire). A fast-moving musical progression reel showcases storyboards, animatics, Christopher Walken’s recording session and visual effects layers, which ultimately merge to form one of the film’s most memorable scenes.

-Audio Commentary – Favreau delivers his scene-by-scene perspective on the live-action adventure “The Jungle Book” with all the candor and humor you’d expect from this multi-talented actor-writer-director-producer.


The film will be available early on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on August 23rd, and on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and On-Demand on August 30th.  We can’t wait for to add this to our collections.
