Fans of the Gotham tv series know that deaths in the show are never really deaths, after all Theo Galavan supposedly met his demise, but thanks to the experiments of one Hugo Strange he was brought back to life. Now another supposed dead character is set to return to the show for Season 3.
Cameron Monaghan’s character Jerome is set to return to Gotham in the future. Jerome was last seen being stabbed in the throat by one Theo Galavan and meeting his demise. However, executive producer John Stephens recently told Zap2it that Jerome will return: “It is 100% our intention to bring Jerome back,”. It won’t be sudden return though, as the show plan to have a slow build up to his return throughout Season 3 with him making his return in Season 4.
Stephens also shed some light on what fans expect from Jerome: “You’ll have these underground movements that have started to talk about Jerome and what he represented and how he’s going to come back like in the days of John the Baptist. Setting the stage that if there is a Season 4, hopefully we’ll bring that back in a much bigger way and you’ll see these different versions of the Joker myth.”
For those who aren’t to familiar with Gotham, it has been teased by his characteristics and his actions that Jerome could be Gotham’s version of the Joker before the accident in ACE Chemicals. However, the shows producers have said that they won’t be introducing the Joker as a full on character, rather, the Joker will be an ideology more than a full blown character.
This is an extremely interesting way of representing Batman’s greatest nemesis. We here at Nerd Lowdown do hope that they decide on bringing in the character rather than stick with this ideology idea the are going with. They have the perfect character in Jerome to go on and become the Joker, it would be a shame not to use him. Alas though, we will just have to wait and see what the show brings us going forward.
With Season Two’s thrilling conclusion, Detectives Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock remain at the forefront of the fight against crime in this dangerously corrupt city. Throughout the past season, Gordon’s moral compass wavered more than ever, as villains emerged from the city’s darkest places. With the help of Hugo Strange (guest star BD Wong), a brilliant psychiatrist secretly conducting horrifying experiments for Wayne Enterprises’ black-ops program, Indian Hill, familiar faces arose, including Azrael, formerly Theo Galavan (James Frain); Mr. Freeze (guest star Nathan Darrow); and Fish Mooney (guest star Jada Pinkett Smith). Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne, with the help of his trusted butler and mentor, Alfred Pennyworth, and his ally at Wayne Enterprises, Lucius Fox, found out there are more secrets to uncover regarding the Waynes’ murders.
Heading into Season Three, GOTHAM will continue to follow the evolving stories of the city’s most malevolent villains: The Penguin; Edward Nygma/The Riddler; Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman; and Barbara Kean. GOTHAM also will dive into the origin stories of The Mad Hatter and the Tweed Brothers, and will peel back the curtain on the Court of Owls.
Season 3 of Gotham will premiere on Monday, September 19th.
