DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is set to live on, which is great news for fans of the show. While it hasn’t been confirmed for a third season yet, it is set to live on past it’s initial season 2 order.
The CW Network today ordered an additional 4 episodes for season 2 of Legends. This brings the total number of episodes in season 2 up to 17. This certainly gives an indication that the CW Network are possibly toying with the idea of given the green light for a third season.
The series has been averaging 2.3 million viewers which is a 13% increase from when The Vampire Diaries was airing in the same spot, which is another thing for the CW Network to take into account when making the decision of a third season or not. While it was slow to get off the ground running during it’s first season, the show has really hit it’s stride now, and has been a huge hit with comic book fans.
It was recently revealed that the title to Legends of Tomorrow‘s tenth season 2 episode is “The Legion of Doom,” the primary antagonists for the season who have, up to this point, gone undetected by the Legends.
Presumably the additional episodes would give the Legends more of an opportunity to formulate a battle plan against Malcolm Merlyn, The Reverse-Flash, Captain Cold, and Damien Darhk, to flesh out the story a bit more.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary, captain of the timeship Waverider; Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave; Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein, one half of Firestorm with Franz Drameh (Jax Jackson) as the other half; Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/The Atom; Maisie Richardson Sellers as Vixen, and Nick Zano as Citizen Steel.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
