It is gearing up towards that time of year again, WWE’s annual spectacle known as Wrestlemania, the Superbowl of the wrestling world. Rumors are flying as to what the speculated card might be, and while it does have one or two good matches on it. We here at Nerd Lowdown looking to book our own version of the show.
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal:
While there is no official word of this match being on the card, it is bound to appear somewhere, be it on the main card or the pre-show. A match like this is a great way to get plenty of the filler talent who wouldn’t normally have a marque match on the show. With the battle royal having about 20 competitors in it, we’d put names like Braun Strowman, Luke Harper, Breezango, Kalisto, Cesaro, Sheamus to name a few in it. A match like this would work similar to the Royal Rumble in the sense that it can be used to show case a dominating talent such as Braun Strowman, who would easily be a favorite to win the match.
Raw Womens Championship Match: Charlotte (c) Vs Sasha Banks Vs Bayley.
This match writes itself, these 3 women along with Becky Lynch made up the four horse women of wrestling, the 4 redefined womens wrestling and took it to new heights. With Becky Lynch now on Smackdown it now leaves the other 3 women to put on a classic at Mania. With the current plan for a heel Sasha Banks to feud with Bayley throughout the summer, all signs point to Bayley walking out of Wrestlemania 33 as champion, which would not only be a huge win for Bayley but also please the fans.
WWE Universal Championship Match: Kevin Owens (c) Vs Chris Jericho.
Considering how much these two men have carried Monday night Raw since last September, this match deserves the WWE Universal title. If WWE is going to do a big blow off to there friendship which has been the centre piece of Raw then it should have the title. The chemistry between the two is phenomenal while they are working together, one can only imagine the chemistry they would have standing across the ring from one another.
Roman Reigns Vs Goldberg.
This one would be pretty easy to book, it would be spear versus spear, the big dog versus the man who destroyed Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. If WWE is still adamant on pushing Reigns as the top guy in the company then why but put him in the ring with Goldberg at Mania? Have him knock off Lesnar’s destroyer. It would probably be a better match than Lesnar and Goldberg anyway.
WWE Championship Match: Bray Wyatt (c) Vs Randy Orton.
This match has been rumored for quite some time and will more than likely happen due to the outcome of Randy Orton winning the Royal Rumble. While John Cena Vs Randy Orton has never happened at Wrestlemania, it has happened that many times before that fans would probably ruin the match with boos and chants. Wyatt Vs Orton is definitely the better option for the title match, the only problem with it is that it means Wyatt will be a transitional champion, only holding the belt for Orton to beat him at Mania. This would such a shame, as Wyatt is a man who has proved himself to be a solid work, but has been subject to bad booking. We would be hoping for a Wyatt win to be honest as Orton could take a loss at Mania and still keep momentum whereas Wyatt can’t.
Inter-promotional Match: AJ Styles Vs Samoa Joe.
This is a rivalry that dominated TNA for many years, it is a feud that has produced many a highly rated matches, given the first chance they can, it would be rude of WWE not to have this happen at Mania. Given that there is the brand split, inter-promotional matches can now make a return at the show of shows. This match would better serve AJ Styles who is arguably the best wrestler on the planet better than the rumored planned match with Shane McMahon. It would also be an ideal match to showcase what Samoa Joe can do on a grand stage.
Brock Lesnar Vs Finn Balor.
This a dream match we would love to see, The Beast Vs The Demon King, the king of Suplex City vs the head of the Balor Club. This match would be heart hitting to say the least. Given that Balor took Raw by storm when he hit the main roster last summer, a marque match is what he deserves upon his return. Given how much star power Lesnar has, a match with him could elevate Balor that little bit more. As to who we would book to go over in this match? We aren’t sure at all.
Seth Rollins Vs Triple H.
Providing Rollins’ injury isn’t too serious and he does make it back in time for Wrestlemania, this match is a no brainer as it is the match WWE have been building for months. Rollins’ was Triple H’s hand picked guy before his knee injury. Last August Triple H screwed Seth Rollins out of the WWE Universal Title and Rollins has been seeking revenge ever since. There will be no better retribution for Rollins for what Triple H done to him than to beat him in the middle of the ring at Wrestlemania.
John Cena Vs The Undertaker.
Lets be honest, this is the one Wrestlemania match that every WWE fan has wanted for quite some time yet it has never happened. It is one of the few massive marque matches WWE has left to pull off at Mania. The face the runs the place versus the phenom. While the two have faced off before back in 2003 and 2008, they have never crossed paths at Mania. Considering this could very well be Undertakers last Wrestlemania, he deserves to go out with a massive match, one final battle for he heads off into the sun set. With Taker being an old school wrestler, he would more than likely insist on going out on his back, but he deserves to retire in style if it is his last match by beating the man that has carried the company for the last 10 years in Cena. It is such a shame that WWE isn’t going down thr route of making this match happen.
That’s how we would book this years Wrestlemania, the matches here are certainly better than the planned matches WWE are looking to do, be sure we are merely fantasy booking as wrestling fans. Would you book it any differently? Let us know.
