We’ve said it before, the Irish convention scene keeps growing and growing. As the scene in Ireland continues to expand, thus creates more room for new players to come onto the field and 2017 will be adding another to the ranks!
On October 28th & 28th 2017, PlayersXpo will be rolling into the Convention Centre in the heart of Dublin City and aims to be Ireland’s ultimate gaming event! Ran by Independent News & Media (INM), Ireland’s leading news & media publisher, PlayersXpo intends to host an industry leading gaming experience for up to 20,000+ visitors across the weekend!
PlayersXpo will have the latest in video games being showcased by some of the biggest names in the business like Microsoft, Nintendo & Sony (maybe we’ll get our grubby mitts on some of those tasty E3 titles, eh?) as well as bringing Minecraft & YouTube talents to the fantastic 2000 seat auditorium in the Convention Centre Dublin! Aside from the blistering gaming entertainment, there will also be educational talks & workshops on the likes of internet safety talks that might help some concerned parents/guardians learn a little bit more about kiddo’s favourite hobby while getting to experience some of those games & systems first hand!
Being an Irish event, it’s also very important that there is Irish talent present and some of the very first names announced are from our homegrown crop! Gaming YouTubers AllCast Irish Gamers, Retrogaming enthusiast/curater Naoise O’Hare aka RetroGamer Ireland and Paula O’Connor, pioneer of a workshop on Cyberbullying titled “Don’t Be Mean Behind Your Screen”.
Along with INM, one of the powers behind PlayersXpo is Creative Director Mick Finucane. You may not have heard that name before, but you certainly know his business – GameStop. Mr. Finucane was one of the Co-Founders of GameStop Ireland and he turned a small investment of £3500 into a chain worth €120million that employs over 600 people across 60 stores! Mick Finucane commented on PlayersXpo:
“We’re delighted to be launching the very first PlayersXpo in Ireland giving families and fans alike a destination occasion for all things gaming. With a long heritage in the industry it’s so important to us as fans first and foremost, that the latest gaming consoles, from the biggest names with the best games will be appearing at PlayersXpo this October!”
Claire Carroll of INM (Sponsorship & Events Manager) also commented on the gaming heritage that Independent News & Media has:
“INM launched the first games page in a National Paper in 1994, back when Ireland sold more PlayStations per head of population than anywhere else in the world, so we know games and we know gaming – it’s in our DNA. From the biggest International YouTube stars to the Mum or Dad who plays Candy Crush, PlayersXpo will cater for everyone with some great chances to play and win across an action packed weekend of inimitable entertainment. “
Stay tuned throughout the summer as PlayersXpo announces its line up and other events taking place at the convention and make sure to give them a follow on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube so that you get the news as quick as anyone else!
