Deal Between Disney And Fox Reportedly Nearly Done!

Back at the start of November reports starting making there way around the internet that Disney were in talks to buy Fox, these rumored reports blew up the internet, people began to speculate the possibilities of what could happen if the deal were to happen. Then as quickly as they popped up they disappeared….. until now.

The talks between Disney and Fox are back on the table and according to a report from CNBC the two sides are close to finalizing a deal which would see Disney purchasing the majority of Fox’s assets which would include the 20th Century Fox movie studio. The same report also says the deal could be made public as early as next week.

The deal is rumored to be valued in the region of $60 billion dollars and the main driver behind the deal is Disney’s desire to buy back the rights to Marvel characters which include the X-Men and Fantastic Four which are currently held by 20th Century Fox.

The deal would not include Fox’s sports and news assets, which will become the core focus of the leaner 21st Century Fox. Fox’s reason behind looking to sell to a suitor like Disney is that it feels it is not a big enough media company to compete with the likes of Disney, Amazon and Netflix.

If this sales goes through it opens up so many possibilities for the Marvel Cinematic Universe which would see the X-Men and Fantastic 4 being introduced in future phases as well as the possibility of Avengers Vs X-men which fans have been longing to see happen for quite some time. The only issue that may arise from the purchase is what will become of Fox’s cinematic universe which would see the future of the X-men movie franchise thrown up in the air and have questioning if an R-rated movie such as Deadpool with fit into the family orientated MCU.

We hear at Nerd Lowdown are quite interested in the outcome of this deal as we’d love to see the X-men/Fantastic 4 join the MCU. We’ll keep you updated as more news on the deal breaks.
